Get Involved

Welcome and thank you for your interest in our MKAOS productions! We take great pride in the nurturing, supportive and fun environment we have created at MKAOS and LOVE to meet new, like-minded people.

We usually hold two shows a year; a musical around June time and a Pantomime (under the name Dreams n Wishes) for the Christmas season.

They are both staged at The Venue MK, which is at Walton High, Walnut Tree.

How can I get involved?

There are SO many different ways to be a part of the MKAOS family – whether you are interested in performing on stage, as part of an orchestra, or perhaps you have a fondness for backstage crew work: stage management, flying (show cloths, not planes…), lighting, sound…even dabbling in directing…if you’ve got the passion and drive, we want to hear from you!

Do I have to sign up?

We don’t have a fixed membership, instead we hold open auditions for every show – and we’re always looking for fresh faces!

If it’s backstage work you’re interested in, then get in touch with the Hippofrog team on their facebook page – they issue a sign-up sheet ahead of the show run where people can commit to any number of performances. Whilst you’d be welcome to help out at all of them, there is no pressure! If you want a taste of the backstage action, but can only spare one or two evenings, that’s fine.

Is there an age limit?

There is no minimum age to join and the rule is – if you are good enough, you are old enough. As a guide though, the standards we set for our acting, singing and dancing are such that our performers are usually 11+ years of age. The youngest children in our pantomimes (known as ‘The Littlies’) are all pupils selected from the Juliet Ratnage School Of Performing Arts.

There are strict Safeguarding policies in place for all of our productions, which are clearly communicated with all cast, crew, chaperones and anyone else involved ahead of every show. Please get in touch for more information on this.

Please note: for crew and backstage work, there is a minimum age requirement of 18. This is due to the safety restrictions that come with performing in a fully functioning theatre.

When do you meet?

We usually rehearse on Wednesdays and Thursdays in the evening, then nearer showtime we have Sunday afternoon rehearsals as well. These are held at Giles Brook School, Tattenhoe. While we are unpaid volunteers (amatuers doesn’t quite do us justice…), we maintain high standards and there is an expectation of commitment to rehearsal dates, if you are cast in a show.

Crew often come along to a later rehearsal to see the show run through, before joining us at the theatre for our Tech rehearsals.
